Linkedln’s Lookup App Help Connect with Your Coworkers

LinkedIn, the business-oriented social network site launched an app for free to help you connect with your coworkers. The app was the creation of Ankit Gupta who claims it to be inspired by the research held through their company which found out 38% customers polled for the company tools to be helpful for finding information regarding their coworkers. In a blog, Gupta posted “In response, people are looking elsewhere to learn about their coworkers. 46% say they look up coworkers on LinkedIn. That’s because it is easier to find coworkers on LinkedIn and the professional info people add to their profiles is more comprehensive and up-to-date as compared to other companies’ intranets.”

Employees from the same organization who are using Look up app can easily search for their coworkers by name, department or title in order to view information from the LinkedIn profile. The information includes their skills, education, email address and work experience. If they are willing to talk to someone who they found while using the app, they can directly message them over Lookup.

As of now, the app is available only to iOS users though individual companies will soon avail the free service. Those organizations that want to use the service are free to sign up at the Linkedln website. Linkedln announced that it will soon bring the Android version of the similar application, though the mobile as well as desktop version already exists.
